This is a piece that I have done for the American Academy of Equine Art exhibit Shades of Blue and Greythat will open this October at Spindletop in Lexington. I started doing research for it by going to area Civil War reenactments in 2012. Had a blast and learned a lot.
It amazed me that these people lived like they did during the war for days on end in cramped, leaky tents rain or shine.
I don't know that I could be that dedicated.
The horses of course, were incredible. Tied to ropes stretched between two trees tacked or untacked.
They didn't care. In battles or saber fights they got into it. They loved their job.
I took over 2000 photos between Richmond and Perryville. I have ideas for a life time.
